The New York International Air Show was held over the weekend of August 27-28, 2022. It was held at the Orange County Airport in Montgomery, New York – just eight miles from the Stewart International Airport, its former venue. This year’s air show was a hybrid of locally and remotely operated flying acts, along with several aircraft on the ground at the Orange County airfield.

This year’s event was headlined buy the USAF’s Thunderbirds, which flew remotely from Stewart Int’l. Airport.

Other performers included the West Point Parachute team, jumping from a UH-72A Lakota helicopter. “Chuck Dramamine” aka Kent Peitsch threw his Interstate Kaydet around the airport in an amazing display of slow flight maneuvers.

Michael Goulian performed his world-renowned aerobatic show.

The B-25 Mitchell “Panchito”, based at (relatively nearby Georgetown, Delaware), performed multiple passes, as did Larry Labriola in his Aero L-39 Albatross. The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight P-51 and F-16 pair did their tribute to the Air Force’s 75th Anniversary this year.

“The Jackie C.”, a Curtiss P-40M operated by the American Airpower Museum of Farmingdale, New York, was in the air for a series of photographically pleasing fly-bys too.

Here is a gallery of photos from Bob Finch and Del Laughery from the two air show days, plus the practice session on Friday, enjoy!
